Queenstown Cycling Explosion

‘Another adventure activity has rolled into town, big time. Although really it’s been rolling around for ages but is now gathering momentum like a runaway train. It can be extreme in its inexpensiveness, and pursued by almost anyone. It’s good old-fashioned cycling.’

Lee and Sarah spend a week cycling in and around Queenstown, to experience the ‘hysteria’ for themselves.

‘The weather was perfect. The undulating but easy dirt road allowed for maximum absorption of the scenery – golden tussock, babbling river, rolling hills on the west side and jaggedy peaks to the east. A couple of historic musterers’ huts added human interest. It was like an epic tramp fast-forwarded, and so much easier on the knees. It’s no wonder legions of trampers are defecting to two wheels.
